Nobody likes bad breath; especially those closest to you. So instead of reaching for a harsh chemical mouthwash, here are a few other ways to freshen up your breath and maintain healthy oral hygiene.
Clean you’re Tongue
The tongue is one of the most-forgotten about areas of the mouth when it comes to oral hygiene; however, the tongue needs just as much attention and cleaning as the teeth do. Most dentists recommend using a tongue scraper every morning before brushing. A tongue scraper helps remove the buildup of bacteria on the tongue, which can directly contribute to bad breath. This is one simple and easy thing that you can do every morning to help banish even the worst morning breath.
Snack on Crisp or Firm Foods
Choose crunchy, healthy foods such as raw carrots, celery, apples or popcorn; try to stay away from extremely sticky or chewy foods (such as candy bars, caramels, etc.). Snacking on crisp and healthy foods throughout the day is dually beneficial; not only do your teeth get a good cleaning, but your health gets an extra boost of goodness, as well. If you must have something sugary or sticky to snack on, make sure that you brush immediately after.
Fix Scheduled Cleanings
If you haven't had your teeth cleaned for quite some time, call and make an appointment with your local dentist. This is one appointment that can immensely benefit your oral hygiene.
